Avi Cohen
is born in Cairo, Egypt. He joins Liverpool in 1979 for a fee of £200,000 from
Maccabi Tel-Aviv, becoming the first Israeli to play in England. Unfortunately,
he is never able to get a run in the team, and is released in 1981 after making
just 18 league appearances in two seasons with club. Cohen dies aged just 54 in
2010 following a motorcycle accident.
