Liverpool are set to launch a bid for Alexis Sanchez by
scoping out the player on his home turf.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has sent scouts to Barcelona to
check out the Chilean midfielder in action.
Though Liverpool are understood to be in the market for a
forward, midfield is one department they need to strengthen especially as the
likes of Steven Gerrard and Jonjo Shelvey need support in terms of supplying
service to main talisman Luis Suarez.
Sanchez has become a bit part player at Camp Nou this
season, with the majority of his La Liga appearances coming from the subs
bench.
Spanish football site Mundo Deportivo understands that
Barcelona may be reluctant to sell Sanchez.
But this isn't the first time Liverpool have attempted to do
business with the Catalan giants. They tried to court highly-rated winger
Cristian Tello before he ended up snubbing a move to Anfield.
Sanchez has scored only one this season for Barcelona and
that was in the Champions League group stages during their 2-0 win away against
Benfica.
