Liverpool
are being linked with a January loan move for Sporting Lisbon winger Jeffren
Suarez.
The
versatile 24-year-old - who can also play up-front - has been heavily linked
with a move to Merseyside in recent months, but was forced to deny comments
from 'agent' Jorge Llagostera regarding a move to England last week.
That hasn't
stopped speculation surrounding a move from Portugal to the Premier League, and
Record claims that Liverpool are ready to 'open the purse strings' in an effort
to bring the former Barcelona starlet to the club.
The paper
goes on to claim that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers 'fell in love' with the player
during a trip to the Nou Camp in 2010, and remains an admirer following
Jeffren's switch from Catalonia to the Estádio José Alvalade.
His move to
Anfield would be on a short-term basis to start with, according to the report,
with Liverpool getting an option to sign the player permanently at the end of
the season.
Were
Jeffren to join the Reds, he'd add another attacking option to Rodgers' side,
with Luis Suarez currently leading the line on his own in the absence of Fabio
Borini (Injury) and Andy Carroll (loan).
